Cat Psychology
Cat Psychology
R. H. Smyth, M.R.C.V.S
In this, his most recent book, R. H. Smyth, member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in England, shares with his readers the benefit of close observations made by his professional eye. Having already distinguished himself through earlier book on dog breeds, their structure and conformation, psychology of the horse and others, Mr. Smyth turns his attention to the habits of felines as companions to man whose recent roots in domesticity seem not to hamper their ability to exist without a human benefactor. The author calls on not only his scientific knowledge of the animal but also his personal experiences as a long-time cat owner and cat-lover as well. His close scrutiny of animals considered by most to be inscrutable does not lessen their aura of exoticism; instead, it adds a new dimension of adaptability that heretofore the cat very likely has not been given credit for.
The book is illustrated with dozens of captivating black and white photos, while dozens more show in glowing colour the rich range of feline coat and eye colour, not only as worn by the domestic variety, but by his large, wilder relatives as well.
